The Benefits of Frozen Fruits and Vegetables

July 11, 2023 by EGS Marketing

Maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet is crucial for overall health and well-being. While fresh produce often steals the spotlight, frozen fruit and vegetables are an excellent alternative that should be considered. Contrary to popular belief, freezing does not diminish the nutritional value of these vibrant foods. In fact, incorporating frozen fruit and vegetables into your diet can offer numerous benefits. Let’s explore some compelling reasons to embrace frozen goodness.

Preserved Nutrient Content:

Freezing is a preservation method that helps retain the essential vitamins and minerals found in fruits and vegetables. Research has shown that frozen produce can be just as nutritious as fresh varieties. Generally, freezing fruits and vegetables occurs soon after picking, so nutritional content is at its maximum. By consuming frozen fruits and vegetables, you can ensure a steady intake of essential nutrients throughout the year.

Extended Shelf Life:

One of the significant advantages of frozen produce is its extended shelf life. Unlike fresh fruits and vegetables, which can spoil relatively quickly, frozen alternatives can be stored for up to a year without losing their nutritional value. This convenience allows individuals to access a wide range of produce even when certain fruits and vegetables are out of season or unavailable in their local area.

Convenience and Accessibility:

Frozen fruits and vegetables offer unparalleled convenience. They are pre-washed, pre-cut, and readily available, saving valuable time in the kitchen. Incorporating frozen produce into your meals is as simple as tossing them into smoothies, stir-fries, or salads. Additionally, frozen options offer accessibility for those with limited access to fresh produce due to geographic or economic constraints.

The inclusion of frozen fruit and vegetables in your diet can be a game-changer for your overall health and nutrition. Not only do frozen options retain their nutrient content, but they also offer an extended shelf life and unmatched convenience. So the next time you’re at the grocery store, consider adding a variety of frozen fruits and vegetables to your shopping cart. Your body will thank you!

Automation in Fulfillment

June 13, 2023 by EGS Marketing

In the fast-paced world of e-commerce, automation is revolutionizing the way businesses operate. One sector that has greatly benefited from automation is frozen fulfillment. With the rise in online grocery shopping and the demand for quick and efficient delivery, automated systems are transforming frozen fulfillment centers into highly efficient operations. In this blog, we will explore the impact of automation on the frozen fulfillment industry and the benefits it brings to businesses and consumers alike.

Streamlined Order Processing:

Automation in frozen fulfillment centers has streamlined the entire order processing cycle. From receiving orders to picking, packing, and shipping, automated systems ensure swift and accurate operations. Robotics and AI-powered technologies have made it possible to handle a large volume of orders with minimal human intervention. Automated conveyor systems, equipped with sensors and scanners, efficiently move frozen products throughout the fulfillment center, reducing the risk of errors and delays.

Enhanced Inventory Management:

One of the biggest challenges in frozen fulfillment is maintaining optimal inventory levels and ensuring product freshness. Automation has revolutionized inventory management by integrating real-time monitoring and data analytics. Smart systems can track inventory levels, expiration dates, and replenishment needs, ensuring that the right products are available at the right time. This not only reduces waste but also improves customer satisfaction by minimizing out-of-stock situations.

Improved Order Accuracy and Fulfillment Speed:

Automation has significantly enhanced order accuracy and fulfillment speed in ambient temperature fulfillment but unfortunately to a much lesser degree in frozen fulfillment due to the sub-zero environment. In frozen fulfillment, reliance on dedicated staff is crucial to the success of pick and pack operations, although automation can help tremendously with planning for efficiency and also for some accessory tasks such as erecting boxes, etc.

Automation has undoubtedly transformed frozen fulfillment operations, helping them meet the ever-increasing demand for speedy deliveries, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty. With streamlined order processing, enhanced inventory management, and improved order accuracy and fulfillment speed, automation has become the driving force behind efficient and reliable frozen fulfillment centers.

As the e-commerce industry continues to evolve, embracing automation will be crucial for businesses to stay competitive in the frozen fulfillment landscape. By harnessing the power of automation, businesses can not only increase their operational efficiency but also deliver exceptional customer experiences in the realm of frozen goods.

5 Things You Didn’t Know Needed Cold Storage

April 28, 2023 by EGS Marketing

When most people think of cold storage, they think of perishable foods like frozen meals, fruit and raw meat. While this is definitely true, these are not the only things cold storage is good for! Welcome back to Ice Cold Insights: the eGourmet Solutions blog, where we talk about things you probably never knew you needed! Today’s topic is cold storage, and trust us when we say that you are about to learn 5 #IcyTruths about things you didn’t know needed cold storage!

1. Medication

Many medications, especially those that are used to treat conditions like arthritis or vaccines for diseases like COVID-19, need to be stored in cold temperatures. In the case of the COVID-19 vaccine, cold temperatures are a must because of the mRNA in the vaccine, which easily breaks down and becomes unstable and ineffective if not stored properly. So, if you’ve had a vaccine, you’ve encountered the concept of cold storage!

2. Cosmetics

Oh, the things we do for beauty! Did you know that some of your favorite cosmetics actually need cold storage to keep them fresh and effective? Things like facemasks, lipstick and cologne all need cold storage to ensure they don’t dry out or to keep bacteria at bay. For example, heat causes the oils in lipstick to go bad and become unusable.

3. Candles

Candles are a popular item that many people love to have in their homes. But did you know that candles need to be stored in a cool place to keep them fresh and functional? Keeping candles in cold storage helps keep the candle’s scent from becoming weak, keeps the candle from warping due to heat and can increase the burn time.

4. Nuts and Seeds

Nuts and seeds are packed with healthy fats and nutrients, but they can also go rancid pretty quickly if they’re not stored correctly. Storing them in the fridge or freezer can help to extend their shelf life and keep them from going bad. Plus, they taste extra delicious when they’re nice and cold!

5. Wine

Now, we’re not saying that you need to chill all your wine, but some wines benefit from being stored in cold temperatures. For example, white wines, sparkling wines, and rosé are best stored in the fridge. The cold temperature helps to preserve their flavors and aromas, and keeps them from spoiling too quickly.

So there you have it, folks! Five things you probably never knew needed cold storage. Remember, sometimes the coolest things are the ones you least expect. Stay cool, and don’t forget to #StayChill!
